PPPP confirms deal with PML

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD Aug.15. In a development that does not augur well for the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, two bitter political rivals in the country — the Pakistan Muslim League (PML) and the Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) — are believed to have agreed to work towards an understanding in the October general election.

The significance of even a limited pact between the arch political rivals could be gauged from the simple fact — between 1988 to 1999, when the era of civilian rule was interrupted by the military coup, it is these two parties that dominated the political scene.

The PPPP spokesman, Farhatullah Babar, has confirmed that two parties are in the process of hammering out a deal on seat adjustments.
