By V.S. Sambandan

COLOMBO Aug. 23. The first round of talks between the Sri Lankan Government and the separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) would be held in Thailand between September 16 and September 18, it was officially announced today.

The Norwegian Foreign Ministry, which is playing the role of a facilitator, said the dates for the talks had been agreed upon by both the parties.

The exact venue of the talks would be announced by Oslo ``closer to the time of the talks'', the Norwegian Government said.
