Letters to the Editor
Sir, Apropos of your Editorial `The President and the Poll Ordinance' (Aug. 24), you have forcefully brought into focus the fact that the voter has a fundamental right to know essential details about the candidate he is voting for or against. Why should there be any fear if one stands upright and is honest and open? The easiest way for the Government is to withdraw the ordinance and suitably amend it to bring in the spirit of the Supreme Court judgment. The opinions expressed by several intellectuals should be given due weight. There is no other alternative.
C. Shankar,
