Jayalalithaa drops two Ministers

Chennai Aug 29. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, today dropped the Housing Minister, C. Durairaj, and the Rural Industries Minister, R. Vilwanathan, and allocated their portfolios to two other Ministers.

Ms. Jayalalithaa `dropped' Durairaj, who was embroiled in a controversy for participating in a `child burial' ritual in Peraiyur village in Madurai district recently.

Mr. Vilwanathan was dropped for apparently referring inadvertently to Ms. Jayalalithaa as `former Chief Minister' at a recent function.
