The boot is on the other leg, MDMK tells CM

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI SEPT. 12. The Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, should have convened an all-party meeting on the Cauvery issue to create a consensus in Tamil Nadu, the Union Minister and MDMK treasurer, M. Kannappan, said today.

Reacting to her statement blaming the Union Ministers from Tamil Nadu for not having taken up the State's cause with the Centre, he said she should have consulted and explained the situation to them. Ms. Jayalalithaa, had on the other hand functioned unilaterally, Mr. Kannappan said.

Even Tamil Nadu's participation in the Cauvery River Authority meeting was under protest. Ms. Jayalalithaa had also walked out of an earlier CRA meeting. So she should take the responsibility for the present situation, Mr. Kannappan said in a statement.
