SC hearing on T.N.'s plea

By J. Venkatesan

NEW DELHI Sept. 12. The Supreme Court today directed the listing for tomorrow of an application filed by Tamil Nadu for a direction to quash the `ad hoc' decision of the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, heading the Cauvery River Authority in asking Karnataka to release 9,000 cusecs of water daily to the Mettur reservoir.

A Bench, comprising Justice G.B. Pattanaik and Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, directed the application to be listed before a three-judge Bench headed by the Chief Justice B.N. Kirpal (subject to his availability tomorrow) after counsel for Tamil Nadu pleaded for an early hearing.
