Quake hits Andamans

PORT BLAIR SEPT. 14. A powerful earthquake, measuring 6 on the Richter scale ,rocked the Andaman islands in the wee hours today claiming two lives and damaging some houses, according to initial reports.

The quake claimed two lives at Rangat in middle Andamans in a wall collapse, the reports said, adding that the jetty at Ariel Bay was also damaged, the reports said. — PTI
