Lawyers drop boycott plan

By Our Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI SEPT. 17. The Bar Council of India has withdrawn its call for boycott of courts throughout the country on September 18 against the amendments made to the Civil Procedure Code.

A decision to this effect was taken today after the BCI office-bearers met the Union Law Minister, Jana Krishnamurthy, who assured them that a meeting would soon be convened to remove lawyers' apprehensions.

The chairmen of the State Bar Councils were consulted and the majority opinion was that the `national protest day' should be called off. Earlier the delegation met the Attorney General, Soli-Sorabjee.
