Four Hurriyat offices raided

Srinagar Sept. 22. In a crackdown ahead of the second phase of the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, police today raided the offices of four constituents of the Hurriyat Conference, which has given a poll boycott call, and detained several of their activists.

Police sources said the offices of the Kashmir Mass Movement, the Islamic Students League, the Muslim League and the People's League located in Rajbagh locality of Srinagar, adjacent to the Hurriyat headquarters, were raided.

Several activists of the People's League were picked up from their office by the search parties, while the raid in other offices was continuing, they said. Eyewitnesses said the office of the People's League was locked by the police. No senior police officer was immediately available for comment.
