The South African team is facing some problems in the bowling front ahead of the semifinals, as the experienced Allan Donald, and rookie medium pacer Alan Dawson and left arm spinner Nicky Boje are carrying injuries. While Donald is suffering from an ankle injury, Skipper Shaun Pollock's new ball partner Alan Dawson was down with a calf muscle pull. Boje missed the last league match due to a finger injury and the team management hopes that he would be fit for the match. After permission from the ICC, the selectors have called up Steve Elworthy and Robin Peterson as cover. The 37-year-old Elworthy has played 38 ODIs taking 42 wickets at an average of 28.81, while the-23-year-old Peterson is yet to make his international debut. The team management feels that Donald could still play in the semifinal by taking painkillers, but the chances of Dawson making to the final eleven was not certain. Dawson tweaked his calf during practice and aggravated it during the final pool game against Kenya on Friday. Boje too seems to be a doubtful starter having sustained a hairline finger fracture while fielding off his own bowling during South Africa's opening game against West Indies. UNI
