Letters to the Editor
Sir, The high sense of professionalism shown by the National Security Guard (NSG) commandos deserves to be commended. Reports say three of the commandos returned to action with just first aid treatment. It is tragic that one of them was killed which probably could have been avoided. Reports say that the commandos fired at the terrorists hiding behind dense bushes at dawn and the terrorists under cover of darkness had a better view of them. All over the world, whenever there is such a crisis the team always waits for an advantageous position and only then moves in. With no apparent hostages and the terrorists totally surrounded and cornered, where was the hurry? Did the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, pressure the commandos? S.B. Vijayaraghavan, Coimbatore, T.N.
