RAW hand not ruled out: Pak. Minister

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD Sept. 28. The Pakistan Interior Minister, Moinuddin Haider, has reiterated that the involvement of the Indian intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) cannot be ruled out in the killings of seven members of the Christian community in Karachi, even as the police were groping in the dark about the identity of the culprits.

Responding to a question from journalists, at a function here, the Minister conceded that the police were still investigating the killing of the workers of a Christian charity in Karachi three days ago, and so far there has been no major breakthrough.

On the train accident near Quetta, the Minister said a Judicial Commission has been formed to investigate the matter.

Besides the Railways would also conduct a departmental inquiry.

He said the findings of these inquiries would be made public.

In Karachi the police have said that the lone survivor in the tragedy, Robin Piran Ditta has helped in creating sketches of three killers with the help of a polygraph test.

The Sind IG of Police, Kamal Shah, told two delegations comprising non-government organisations (NGOs) and elected councillors belonging to the Christian community that investigations were being carried out with the assistance of the only survivor.

He told them that Mr. Ditta has not been detained or arrested by the police but has been taken into protective custody for investigation purpose.

The IG informed them that a polygraph test was done on Mr. Ditta in the wake of his different statements on the incident
