T.N. not enthused

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI Sept. 28. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, has not responded to the "offer of direct talks" made by her Karnataka counterpart, S.M. Krishna.

According to official sources here, it is only in the media and could be part of Karnataka's "delaying tactics" to overcome the " hurdle" in the court. With the Chief Minister not expected to respond to the media offer, the sources said, "the stage for talks was over long ago. They could not reach an agreement even in the Cauvery River Authority, nor implement any of the directives given either by the Supreme Court or the Authority. What is there to talk now," the sources asked.
