Inflation falls

NEW DELHI OCT. 13. Inflation fell for the second consecutive week by another 0.24 per cent to 3.34 per cent for the week ended September 28 even as global crude prices firmed up on threats of a possible United States strike over Iraq.

The decline in the general price level, as measured by the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), was mainly due to a sharp fall in the price of vegetables and eggs, meat and fish.

The index was 3.58 per cent in the previous week and 3.19 per cent for the corresponding week last year.
