Letters to the Editor
Sir, Your Editorial, "Nightmare for Musharraf" (Oct. 12) throws light on the `would be troubles' the Pakistan President may face in case he is prepared to transfer power. Pakistan's voters must be appreciated for giving a fitting reply to the President. Finally, it seems that his day of reckoning has come. It is certain that if he transfers power to the elected representatives, it would finally be vested with some pro-Taliban coalition members. Eventually, Pakistan would have to perform a u-turn in its present role in the anti-terrorism war. C.P. Velayudhan Nair, Kochi Sir, Different conclusions can be drawn from the same set of facts. It was Pakistan's military rulers who first "invited" the American military into the region by joining `CENTO' some 50 years ago. Now they are still in it along with Turkey one way or the other. Iraq was the third founding-member missing and that is now being taken care of. We may soon see a new version, CENTO 2002, thanks to Musharraf and friends.
