Brazil triumphs

Buenos Aires Oct. 15 . Twenty years down the road, same teams, same stadium, different winner. On Sunday Brazil triumphed over Russia 23-25, 27-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-13 in the final of the men's World volleyball championship to reverse the result of 1982, when the then Soviet Union won its last major title.

France claimed the bronze medal, pushing Yugoslavia further down. The defending champion Italy (three in a row winner) could take only the fifth place, beating the host Argentina in another exciting match on the final day at 27-29, 25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 22-20.
