A.P. fishermen in Pak. custody

SRIKAKULAM OCT. 15. Five fishermen from Srikakulam district are now held captive in Pakistan. Three of them, belonging to Kunduvanipeta in Srikakulam rural mandal, who had gone for fishing in the Arabian Sea from near Okha in Gujarat were arrested by the Pakistan Coast Guard allegedly for trespassing, according to M. Lakshmudu, president of the District Fishermen Co-operative Society. He said the three— Chikati Danayya, Chikati Rambabu and Chodipalli Musalayya— went on to the sea 10 days ago. Another fishermen from Gujarat, who accompanied them, was also held.

Mr. Lakshmudu said Mailapalli Narsimhulu of Kunduvaniepta and Gangalla Krishnamurthy of Ganagallapeta who had gone for fishing from Dwaraka port last May were also held captive in Pakistan.

Fishermen from Srikakulam migrate to Veraval and other parts of Gujarat in large number to eke out a living.
