PM yet to accept Omar's resignation

By Our Special Correspondent

New Delhi Oct. 15. The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, had a 20-minute discussion with the caretaker Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah.

The outgoing Chief Minister is believed to have shared with Mr. Vajpayee his perception of what went wrong with the National Conference's electoral calculations in the State elections.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister is yet to accept the resignation of Omar Abdullah, Minister of State for External Affairs.

He has resigned from the Vajpayee Government, following his defeat in a Srinagar district constituency in the just-concluded elections.

For now, Mr. Vajpayee is reported to be in no hurry to forward Mr. Abdullah's resignation to the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, for acceptance.

Mr. Vajpayee has not even forwarded the resignation of Raman Singh, who has been appointed president of the Chattisgarh BJP.

Apparently the Prime Minister is waiting for Vasundhara Raje's resignation; she has been appointed president of the Rajasthan BJP.

The idea, according to one aide, is to send all the resignations in one bunch.
