14 feared drowned in Ganga

DEHRA DUN OCT.15. Fourteen persons of a family were feared drowned in the Ganga when the Tata Sumo van in which they were travelling from Chandrabadni to Rishikesh fell into the river near Vyasi, in the Singhtali area of Tehri district, around 5-30 p.m. today.

The van driver, admitted to the Rishikesh Government Hospital, is reported to have told the police that the steering mechanism of the vehicle failed to respond. The passengers were from the Dobhalwala area of Dehra Dun.

The Tehri Police Superintendent was supervising operations to locate the victims, official sources said.
