Pak. for resumption of talks

By Sridhar Krishnaswami

WASHINGTON OCT. 17. Welcoming India's decision to pull back some of its troops from forward positions along the International Border, Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, said his country would "happily respond" to the move and called for an early resumption of dialogue to discuss all issues including Kashmir.

Addressing a large gathering at the Paul Nitze Scool of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University, Mr. Qazi said Pakistan would also like countries friendly to both South Asian nations to "encourage a peace process, encourage reciprocity, encourage a movement towards engagement", which could lead to a resumption of dialogue on the dispute over Kashmir.
