Tamil Nadu
By Our Tamil Nadu Bureau
The 62-year-old Congressman suffered a cardiac arrest around 3.30 p.m. at his relative's house in suburban Chennai. An hour later, at a private hospital, the end came quickly. Only last evening, he had visited the ailing Union Commerce Minister, Murasoli Maran, in a private hospital in the City. His wife, R. Kalaimani, was on her way to their native Salem district. His two sons and daughter, settled abroad, are rushing to Chennai for the funeral tomorrow. Starting his political career as a Dravidar Kazhagam activist, Mr. Ramamurthy, a law graduate from Annamalai University, joined the Desiyar Manavar Tamil Valarchi Kuzhu, a brain child of Kamaraj, in 1967 to channelise the students national mainstream when the Dravidar Munnetra Kazhagam was stoking the Tamil regionalist spirit.
