Sir, By drastically reducing interest rates on savings and deposits from 13 per cent to 7 per cent in the last couple of years, the Government has reduced the earnings of retirees and other dependents on interest income by 46 per cent. Apparently, it thinks that senior citizens can comfortably absorb this loss. Why not apply the same yardstick to Ministers and Government employees and cut their salary and allowances by the same 46 per cent? H. R. Srinivasan, Mysore
