Letters to the Editor
Sir, The new huge gas discovery Dhirubhai 1, 2, 3 off the Visakhapatnam coast by Reliance Industries and its Canadian partner is a milestone in our search for energy resources. The reserve is estimated as 7 trillion cft of gas, which is equal to 1.2 billion barrels of crude oil. The OPEC countries sell crude at $1.5 to $ 2 higher FOB price under term contract to India compared to their selling price to the U.S. and the European nations. Without much publicity, our Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ram Naik, is taking the nation towards energy security and deserves to be praised for this. N. Krishna, Hyderabad
