Karunakaran slams media

By Our Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Nov. 9. The Senior Congress leader, K. Karunakaran, today alleged that the media was trying to divert attention from the main issues relating to the functioning of the Antony Government.

He took exception to the attempts in the media to attribute political colour to ordinary events such as M. G. A. Raman, DGP Crimes, calling on him the other day, and the Former Chief Minister, E. K. Nayanar's visit today.

Mr. Nayanar called on Mr. Karunakaran under the full glare of the camera and arc lights.

The two were closeted for about 30 minutes after the preliminary exchanges under media glare.

Mr. Raman's visit to invite the senior Congress leader had triggered off media speculations about the motives of the visit.

Mr. Karunakaran felt that these were part of the attempts to deflect public attention from the cardinal issues he had been raising regarding the functioning of the Government.
