Pankaj Mehta's team in lead

NEW DELHI NOV. 9. With only two of the ten rounds remain to be played there was a scramble among the leading teams to finish within the first eight places in the PHD-GPI bridge tournament here today.

Pankaj Mehta's team from Moradabad, having a tally of 165 VP, is in lead at the end of eighth round. Well Knit from Chennai remained at the second place (163 VP).

After scoring a 24-6 win against HOPE (Delhi) Mehta's team was concerned in a losing draw (14-16) in the match against Well Knit.

However, the team maintained its top place and tightened its grip with a 18-12 win over Aligarh Blues, taking its score to 165 VP.

Well Knit consolidated its place having registered two significant wins in the earlier rounds — against Juniper (24-6) and Sista (25 VP).

Bimal's team (Calcutta) was third with 159 VP, followed by Aligarh Blues 153 VP.
