Medical team accompanying Maran

CHENNAI NOV. 13. The special aircraft to fly the ailing Commerce Minister, Murasoli Maran, to Houston, U.S., arrived here this afternoon from Jeddah.

Mr. Maran is expected to be brought on board early on Thursday and the aircraft will leave shortly after.

Mr. Maran will be accompanied by his wife, Mallika, and daughter, Anbukarasi. A medical team, consisting of Gopal Parthasarathy, Paul Jude, Ramesh Thyagarajan and Sridhar Thiruvidula will also accompany him.

Security in and around the old Meenambakkam airport complex was beefed up by the Central Industrial Security Force.

The DMK president, M.Karunanidhi, today thanked the team of doctors and paramedical staff at the Apollo Hospitals here for the treatment provided to Mr. Maran. In a release, he said the ``care provided by them was comparable with the best medical centres across the world.''
