51 fishermen feared dead in cyclone

Kolkata Nov. 13. Fifty-one fishermen were feared dead, and 630 others in 63 trawlers were missing after yesterday's cyclone, which hit three coastal West Bengal districts.

The Fisheries Minister, Kiranmoy Nanda, told mediapersons here today that the fishermen were washed away when six trawlers and four mechanised fishing boats sank during the storm at the mouth of the Subarnarekha in Midnapore East district. Asked whether these fishermen could be alive, he said, "it is doubtful, but I pray that they all return safe and sound."
