I'm prepared to face case, says Karunanidhi

CHENNAI Nov. 15. Anyone pointing out blind beliefs and unacceptable practices in Hinduism is labelled anti-Hindu, the DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, said today.

Solemnising a marriage here, he said there were many practices in Hinduism, which went against the rational thinking the founders of the Dravidian movement had instilled in their followers.

Reverting to his comments on Hinduism, Mr. Karunanidhi said he was prepared to face the cases filed against him. ``Go ahead and file. I will come in person and explain what Hindu religion is,'' he said. Then, the whole world would come to understand the flaws in the religion.

Mr. Karunanidhi maintained that he had never said Hinduism was not a religion. It was the former Kanchi Sankaracharya, who had said so in his book The Voice of God. In a chapter, `a religion without name,' the Acharya said there was no religion called Hinduism, claimed the DMK chief.
