Municipal workers stage dharna

Pondicherry Nov. 20 .The Oulgaret Municipality workers here staged a dharna on Tuesday, in support of their charter of demands. A spokesperson of the union said the workers wanted among other things, implementation of Assured Career Progression scheme (launched by the Centre) for all workers who had completed 12 years of service, removal of pay anomalies in the wage structure of those, now regularised by the Administration, raise in the transport and conveyance allowances given to the physically handicapped workers attached to the municipality, facility for periodical medical check-ups and free house site pattas for conservancy staff.

The local CITU had extended support to the agitation.

The demands should be settled without delay, a communication from the CITU functionary, Durai Arumugham said.
