Sri Lanka hails Indian presence at Oslo

By Amit Baruah

NEW DELHI Nov. 22. India's presence at the November 25 meeting in Oslo where Sri Lanka, the LTTE and key donor Governments will participate, is a ``welcome'' sign, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner, Mangala Moonesinghe, said today.

This showed that India continued to be fully supportive of the peace process in Sri Lanka. Mr. Moonesinghe said this also displayed India's support to the nation.

In a related development, the Sri Lankan Economic Reforms Minister, Milinda Moragoda, met the External Affairs Minister, Yashwant Sinha, and the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Brajesh Mishra. The meeting between the two, the Foreign Office spokesman said, was part of the ``close consultations'' between India and Sri Lanka on the peace process.
