TVS Motor Company said its motorcycle sales during November surged by 69 per cent to 68,614 units from 40,563 units in the same month last year. Cumulative sales (April-November) went up by 38 per cent to 7.56 lakh units from 5.47 lakh units a year earlier. Motorcycles sales soared by 85 per cent during this period to 4.81 lakh units from 2.59 lakh units while scooterettes posted a four per cent growth at 1.12 lakh units against 1.08 lakh units last year. In the scooterette segment (ungeared below 100cc engine category), sales of the TVS `Scooty' fell by 22.7 per cent during November 2002 to 11,815 units. Mopeds also slipped by 22.8 per cent to 18,285 units which TVS said, was due to poor demand in rural markets.
