Disabled U.K. charity worker freed

NEW DELHI DEC. 7. As a humanitarian gesture, India today freed a disabled British charity worker who was undergoing a 10-year sentence in Himachal Pradesh on charges of possessing drugs.

Fifty-two-year old Ian Stillman was handed over to the British High Commission officials in Shimla, official sources here said.

In London, the British Foreign Office said it was very grateful to India for his release on health grounds. Ian Stillman was arrested two years ago for allegedly possessing 20 kg of cannabis, a charge he refuted.
