SC notice on Vaiko's plea

NEW DELHI DEC. 9. The Supreme Court today issued notice to the Centre and the Tamil Nadu Government on a writ petition filed by the MDMK general secretary and MP, Vaiko, challenging Section 21 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, under which he was arrested by Tamil Nadu police on July 11. A Bench, comprising Justice Y.K. Sabharwal and Justice Arijit Pasayat, directed that the petition be tagged on with another plea filed by the People's Union for Civil Liberties challenging the constitutional validity of POTA in which notice had already been ordered.
