Bail plea rejected

Mysore Dec. 9. A court here today rejected the bail application of jailed Tamil activist, Kolathur Mani, who was being demanded as emissary by the forest brigand, Veerappan, to negotiate the release of the slain JD(U) leader, H. Nagappa.

Public Prosecutor, Muthappa Rai, had not raised any objections to the release of Mr. Mani on Saturday when the third additional sessions judge, Munnoli, posted the case for hearing today.

However, two advocates, Shivannegowda, and Ramakrishna had filed objections to Mr. Mani being released on bail, contending that the abduction of Nagappa was a ``ploy'' by Veerappan to secure the release of Mr. Mani.
