India, Canada to cooperate in war against terror

By Our Diplomatic Correspondent

NEW DELHI DEC. 11. India and Canada have agreed to share intelligence and cooperate in investigation as part of their efforts to broaden cooperation in the battle against terrorism, a joint statement said this evening. The statement, issued after the fifth meeting of the India-Canada Joint Working Group on counter-terrorism, held over the last two days, said the two countries would continue "full cooperation'' in the ongoing June 1985 Kanishka air crash investigation, including any legal proceedings.

"The two delegations recalled that India and Canada were among the first countries to recognise the growing threat to the world from terrorism and the need to for international cooperation to combat it," it said.
