CJI won't name judge for Tehelka probe panel

NEW DELHI DEC. 18. The outgoing Chief Justice of India, G.B. Pattanaik, has declined to recommend the name of a retired judge of the Supreme Court to head the Tehelka Commission, following the resignation of K. Venkataswami, retired judge of the apex court.

In an interview on the eve of his retirement, the CJI said "I have expressed my inability to recommend anyone and I have asked the Government to appoint any person of its choice''.
