Centre may take up SYL canal work

New Delhi Dec. 19. The Centre is preparing an action plan on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal and examining the option of taking up construction in case the Punjab Government failed to do so as per a Supreme Court order.

The Union Water Resources Minister, Arjun Charan Sethi, conveyed as much to the Punjab Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh, at a meeting here today. Mr. Sethi requested Mr. Singh to comply with the court directive by January 15 for water to flow into Haryana.
