Rajiv Foundation functioning with 'limited funds'

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, DEC. 21. The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF), in its tenth year of inception, has sought to dispel the myth that it was flushed with funds and, in turn, claimed that it had to function with a limited corpus of Rs. 34 crores which was fast getting eroded in value due to falling interest rates and rising inflation.

Interacting with mediapersons, the RGF secretary-general, Manmohan Malhoutra, said though the Foundation was keen on giving grants to projects, its hands were tied by limited resources. Consequently, the only new project that the RGF has launched to mark its 10th anniversary is the Green Corps— a volunteer service dedicated to rainwater harvesting and environmental regeneration in rural India.
