Vaiko evasive

By Our Staff Reporter

Nagapattinam Dec. 31 ."It is the BJP State unit which has announced that it does not have any alliance in Tamil Nadu," the MDMK general secretary, Vaiko, said today.

He was replying to to a question what the MDMK would do if BJP and the AIADMK decide to join hands in the near future.

Avoiding giving a direct reply to a question on the speculation of these two parties were coming together, Mr. Vaiko said the DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, had already issued a `clear-cut' statement.

Asked what would be the MDMK stand if the BJP and the AIADMK joined hands to contest the Sattankulam Assembly byelection, he said it could be decided after the poll announcement was made and repeated that it was the State BJP unit which already announced that it had no alliance in Tamil Nadu.

Mr. Vaiko was brought here by the police in connection with an election clash case registered in 1983.
