U.S. fellowships for IIJNM students

BANGALORE JAN. 2. Two students of the Indian Institute of Journalism and New Media (IIJNM), Bangalore, have been selected for fellowships in the U.S.

Tamara D' Mello has been selected for The New York Times internship for journalism students. She is the first student to be selected from an Indian media school for internship in The New York Times for which, nominees from all over the world compete every year. Tamara will be working at The New York Times office in New York.

Vivek Gupta of IIJNM has been selected for the Scripps Howard internship. Vivek is one of the seven interns who will be working for the Scripps Howard News Service, the Washington office of a chain of newspapers. The Scripps Howard Foundation, which pays for U.S. students and an international student to go to Washington and work as interns, has for the first time taken an international intern other than a Latin American.
