Situation explosive: Shahnawaz

LUCKNOW JAN. 4. The Union Civil Aviation Minister, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, today said that the situation in Bihar was ``explosive'' as the students had revolted against the Rabri Devi Government.

Mr. Hussain said that the recent killing of innocent youths in a fake encounter in Patna proved that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Government was interested in crushing the younger generation.

Taking exception to the statements of the RJD chief, Laloo Prasad Yadav, who blamed the NDA for the ongoing agitation in Patna, Mr. Hussain claimed that the agitation was entirely non-political and students from all sections were protesting against the Government's failure to check such gruesome incidents.

``Yesterday's Bihar bandh itself brought back memories of the 1974 movement when almost all sections of society supported the agitation against the Government,'' he said.

The entire NDA was spearheading the agitation in Bihar after three youths were gunned down by police in Patna.
