Life term for Kannada film actor

Manipal Jan. 4. Kannada film actor Harish Roy, alias Harish Acharya, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Udupi district and sessions judge in a murder case.

The Judge, A V Chandrashekar, also imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 on Roy.

The victim, Jayaram Rao, was a school teacher and owner of a finance company in Udupi, a press release issued the Udupi district court yesterday said. The prosecution's case was that Acharya, along with three friends, barged into Rao's office on November 13 last year while he was at work and attacked him with lethal weapons, before making good their escape.

Rao died two weeks after the incident.
