Talking to presspersons, he said the industry also wanted lesser duty and the CENVAT chain to be put in place. Regarding the textile management institute planned here, he said it was likely to have a capital investment of Rs. 6 to Rs. 7 crores. The Government would bear the full cost and the industry could contribute if it wanted to. Management and short-term courses would be offered and it was proposed to have a large number of seats for the employees of the textile units. There would be a strong focus on application of Information Technology in textile industries. Mr. Mohapatra said it was imperative for the industry to have trained manpower. The institute would help train the existing manpower.
