`Politicians creating conditions of disharmony'

By Our Staff Reporter

CHENNAI JAN. 14. In the past 30 years the country had become divisive and the events of the past year warrant an action plan to stem the rot. Also, despite support from the judiciary and the media for communal harmony, politicians had continued to create conditions of disharmony, according to A.M.Kushro, member, National Financial Commission.

Talking to presspersons here today, he said the anti-conversion law enacted by the Tamil Nadu Government was oppressive.

The All India Sadbhavna-Shanthi Caravan would be a voice against bigotry and fanaticism. Syed Hamid, president of the Caravan, said the Caravan would do door-to-door campaign for communal harmony. There was a misconception among people about other religions and they feared that the country was going the "fascist" way. Since people's support for the Caravan was high, subgroups would be set up.
