'Conducive atmosphere needed'

SRINAGAR Jan. 14. Naming Kashmir and Palestinian problems as those eluding solutions, the Hurriyat Conference today said it was imperative that an atmosphere conducive for dialogue was created to resolve them.

``For resolving the issues confronting the world, it is necessary to avoid a rigid and hardened attitude. To save the world from destruction in a nuclear war, it is imperative to create an atmosphere to resolve the raging Kashmir and Palestine issues'', the Hurriyat leader and JKLF vice-chairman, Javid Ahmad Mir, said at a gathering here.

'Comprehensive defeat'

The Hurriyat Conference claimed that the release of the journalist Iftikhar Geelani, seven months after his arrest in a ``false'' case, was ``a comprehensive defeat'' for the Government.
