Harivanshrai dead

MUMBAI JAN. 18 .Noted Hindi poet and filmstar Amitabh Bachchan's father, Harivanshrai Bachchan (96), died here tonight after a prolonged illness, the Bachchans' family friend and Samajwadi Party leader, Amar Singh, said. He is survived by wife Teji Bachchan and sons Amitabh and Ajitabh.

The poet, suffering from respiratory problems, had been in a critical condition in the last few days.
