RSS to honour veteran Swayamsewaks

New Delhi Jan. 21. Fifty-five years after the country's Partition, the RSS today announced that it would honour about 600 of its veterans or their relatives who played a ``commendable role in saving thousands of Hindus from the clutches of Muslim goons.''

The RSS also said it would initiate steps to infuse nationalism in young minds ``to the levels witnessed during Partition days, when they protected the Hindu community from Muslim oppression''.

The RSS chief, K.S. Sudarshan, would personally honour veteran Swayamsewaks (volunteers) by presenting the smriti chinh (memento) at the Shaurya Smriti Samaroh in Amritsar on January 29, the organisation's Karyavah (secretary) in charge of north India, Devendra Prasad Gupta, told reporters here.

Attributing the rising incidents of ``minority terrorism'' to lack of nationalistic spirit in today's youth, Mr. Gupta said, ``the scene unfolding before us is indeed scary. Parliament, Red Fort and temples are being attacked. Pakistani militants, aided by the ISI have let loose a reign of terror across the country. Today's youth is not raising its voice. That nationalistic fervour is missing''.
