The officials seized from the Fair Pharma owner, Majeed, several vials of CFS-QR which, officials said, was the `reincarnation' of the banned ImmunoQR, which had been claimed to be a wonder drug for AIDS. The Drugs Control authorities had banned the manufacture and sale of ImmunoQR and CholesterolQR. They officials also seized several other illegally manufactured drugs like BaldnessQR, CancerQR, DiabeticQR, ProstrateQR, CataractQR and BedsoreQR, all claimed to be wonder cures against the respective diseases. Officials alleged that the contents of all these concoctions were the same. The raiding team, headed by assistant drug controller (intelligence), M.P. George, included the regional drugs inspector, C. Satheeshkumar, four district drugs inspectors, an ayurvedic drug inspector and others. The team found nine suspected AIDS patients from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka lining up at the Fair Pharma office at 6 a.m. The officials got clinching evidence from two of them that they were HIV positive and that they had come for getting the banned ImmunoQR. Mr. George told The Hindu that Mr. Majeed now sold `ImmunoQR' under the name CFS-QR (CFS stands for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and, QR for cure). Each course of the drug was priced at Rs. 9,200 and this morning's sales alone had totalled Rs. 1,18,000.
