Tributes paid to Balayogi

NEW DELHI MARCH 3. Parliamentarians today paid floral tributes to the former Lok Sabha Speaker, G.M.C. Balayogi, on his first death anniversary.

The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, the Lok Sabha Speaker, Manohar Joshi, the Leader of the Opposition, Sonia Gandhi, the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, several Union Ministers and MPs, offered floral tributes at a portrait of the late leader. The portrait was placed near the Balayogi auditorium inside the new Parliament House library building.

Earlier, the Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party at its meeting paid tributes to Balayogi. The party recalled his contributions towards the smooth functioning of Parliament and for the development of Andhra Pradesh.

The TDP Parliamentary Party leader, K. Yerran Naidu, said because of his influence, Balayogi could conceptualise and implement a number of important projects in the State, especially coastal areas.
