New technology for radiators

By Our Corporate Reporter

CHENNAI MARCH 7. The International Copper Promotion Council (India) (ICPCI) has introduced CuproBraze, a new generation technology for manufacturing state-of-the-art automobile radiators in India. This patented technology has been jointly developed by ICPCI's parent organisation, International Copper Association (ICA), and Outokumpu Oyj of Sweden. ICPCI is an organisation to promote the beneficial usage of copper in India.

Anders Falkeno, General Manager, Technical Development, Outokumpu, said CuproBraze involved brazing of copper and brass in radiator manufacturing. "Since the specific heat of copper and brass is around 40 per cent that of aluminium, less energy is needed to heat a copper and brass radiator. This offers manufacturers better performance through increased thermal conductivity and productivity through increased operating temperatures". Mr. Falkerno was here to showcase the technology.
